EMI Music Publishing US signs Rev Theory and The Cab to exclusive publishing agreements
EMI Music Publishing
has signed publishing agreements with two of the hottest bands for 2008, it was
announced today.
Revelation Theory and The Cab have both agreed exclusive long-term global co-publishing deals with EMI Music Publishing, joining a roster of songwriters that includes Beyoncé, James Blunt, Norah Jones, Alicia Keys, Panic! At The Disco, Kanye West and Amy Winehouse.
Rev Theory’s latest album Light It Up will be released on Van Howes Records/Interscope in the United States on June 10 this year. The album is produced by EMI Music Publishing writer Brian Howes (Hinder, Puddle Of Mudd), and Josh Abraham (Velvet Revolver, Staind). Five piece rock and pop act The Cab, who were recommended to Decaydence/Fueled By Ramen Records by Panic! At The Disco’s Spencer’s, saw their debut album Whisper War go straight in at the top of the latest Billboard’s Top Heatseekers chart.
EMI Music Publishing Executive Vice President of East Coast Creative Dan McCarroll commented: “Both Rev Theory and The Cab have built devoted followings through their live shows, but it’s the quality of their songs that really stands out for me.
“They’re very different kind of bands but both have a unique ability to connect with fans through the music they write, and that’s why everybody was so keen to win these deals. We’re really pleased that they’ve signed with EMI Music Publishing, and are looking forward to working with them for a long time to come."
Rev Theory consists of Dave Agoglia, Julien Jorgensen, Rich Luzzi and Matty McCloskey, who collectively moved to New York from Massachusetts in 2001 to pursue their career as a band. They released their debut album Truth Is Currency in 2005, and have toured with artists including Evanescence, Buckcherry, Hinder and Papa Roach. The band will launch their own tour later in the year to support the release of the album. Light It Up has recently been used as an official theme song by World Wrestling Entertainment’s Wrestlemania 24, while Hell Yeah was the number one most added song at Active Rock Radio in its debut week.
The Cab are Alex DeLeon, Cash Colligan, Alex Johnson, Alex Marshall and Ian Crawford. Having built a strong following through local shows around their home city of Las Vegas, the band began work on their debut album last year with producer Matt Squire (Boys Like Girls, Panic! At The Disco). The Cab have toured with artists including Fall Out Boy, Cobra Starship and Metro Station.
